AquaCombine, funded by the EU-Horizon (2019-23)

Head of Research at Alpha Aqua Ltd.: Responsible for the first European saltwater aquaponics system growing Salicornia in a vertical plant system in co-production of Steelheads. Together with Aalborg University, plants will be examined for components valuable to the pharmaceutical industry combating cancer and psoriasis as well as extracting oils for bioenergy.  Plant density, harvest sequential, optimal nutrient compound will be important analysis for evaluating the potential economic benefits for aquaculture producers of investing in Salicornia plant production as an alternative wastewater treatment system.
